Days = End Date − Start Date (in calendar days); Business days = Total days minus Saturdays and SundaysWhere:

- End Date=The ending date of the range
- Δd=Number of calendar days between the two dates
Assumptions
- Calculations are based on the Gregorian calendar.
- Includes both the start and end date in the count.
- Weekend exclusion treats Saturday and Sunday as non-business days.
- Leap years are automatically accounted for.
Calculation Examples
Example 1
2024 is a leap year with 366 days. From Jan 1 to Dec 31 is exactly 365 days (end date exclusive of the full year).
Example 2
March 2024 has 31 total days. Excluding 4 Saturdays and 5 Sundays leaves 22 business days.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this calculator include the start date?
Yes. The count includes the start date. For example, Jan 1 to Jan 1 equals 0 days (same day), and Jan 1 to Jan 2 equals 1 day.
How are holidays handled?
This calculator only excludes weekends (Saturday and Sunday). For holiday-specific business day calculations, a specialized workday calculator would be needed.
How accurate is the month and year breakdown?
