Calculation Examples
Example 1

Result:You Save: $20.00, Final Price: $60.00
A 25% discount on an $80 item saves you $20, for a final cost of $60.
Example 2
Inputs:Original Price: $120.00, Final Price: $78.00
Result:Discount: 35%, Savings: $42.00
If a $120 item is on sale for $78, that represents a 35% discount.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate a discount percentage?
Divide the savings amount by the original price and multiply by 100. For example, if a $50 item is discounted to $40, the discount is ($10 / $50) × 100 = 20%.
Can multiple discounts be combined?
Retailers often apply discounts sequentially rather than adding them. A 20% off plus 10% off does not equal 30% off. The second discount applies to the already-reduced price.
